Barbara Trovillo, Contemporary Impressionist Painter

“Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does, the better.” Andre Gide

I am a contemporary Impressionist Painter, inspired by nature. I live most of the year in an old house in the Blue Ridge mountains of Central Virginia with my husband, and a cat named Fifi.. The beauty and amusement in this country life affords me many lively subjects. The rest of the year is spent at the coast of South Carolina or South Jersey. The wildlife at the marsh and the ever changing sea is always inspiration for creative work.

I work in thick oil paint with paint knives, Rosemary & Co. brushes, a squeegee and other mark making tools. The work is characterized by light, color and texture. Each painting tells a story. Some of the story is left untold to engage the imagination of the viewer. I hope to communicate something of the wonder I felt when I experienced that moment.

Some of my work is displayed at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, Virginia. Original paintings, prints and fine art cards are available for purchase there, as well as on this website.
